Our Projects

The Canadian Mobility and Aerospace Institute (CMAI)

In 2018, IODS founded The Canadian Mobility and Aerospace Insitute (CMAI), a nonprofit organization that brings together mobility stakeholders from across the country. OIDS has supported CMAI's organizational development, governance, and the implementation of workplace learning programs for current and future workers in Canada’s mobility industries.

CMAI

Placement SPOT

Launched in 2019 to address workforce and training needs in the mobility industry, Placement SPOT supports continuing education and career development in Canada. Administered by CMAI, this program brings together employers, educational institutions, and participants around various forms of work-integrated learning, including internships, micro-internships, and mini-internships.

SA²GE

Launched in 2010 to support the competitiveness of Quebec’s aerospace sector and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, the ‘Smart Affordable Green Efficient’ (SA²GE) project brought together partners to develop more environmentally friendly technologies. OIDS contributed to the administrative, financial, and operational management, as well as the reporting, for its three phases: SA²GE-1, from 2010 to 2015; SA²GE-2, from 2016 to 2020; and SA²GE-3, from 2018 to 2023.

Aéro21

This inspiring strategic initiative, launched at the initiative of the Government of Quebec, aimed to strengthen the global position of Quebec’s aerospace sector. AÉRO21 accelerated its digital transformation through the coordination of industrial partners and the development—in two phases—of technologies for the aircraft of the future.

Mobel

MOBEL stems from the Quebec government’s commitment to supporting the development of a new generation of specialized heavy-duty electric urban vehicles. The coordination of this sector-specific initiative has led to the creation of seven prototypes powered entirely by electricity.

Funding for MOBEL comes in part from measures outlined in the 2015–2020 Action Plan for Transportation Electrification and the 2013–2020 Action Plan on Climate Change. The project’s objectives are also aligned with the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy.

INSAT

OIDS led the organizational launch and initial coordination of the Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology (INSAT), a joint initiative between industry and the federal government.

INSAT supports the growth of the Canadian aerospace sector by coordinating the development of sustainable aviation technologies. The initiative promotes cross-industry collaboration, research program management, and partnerships to accelerate the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.

Finnov

With support from the Government of Quebec, FINNOV has accelerated the development of integrated power electronics products for the electric vehicle market. This initiative has also helped structure the manufacturing supply chain and strengthen Quebec’s capacity to produce components for commercial electric vehicles.

Regroupement de la recharge en multilogement

RRM has brought together Quebec-based companies RVE and Dimonoff to develop a new generation of energy management systems for charging electric vehicles in multi-family residential buildings.

OIDS coordinated the project, the partners, and the timelines, in addition to handling financial oversight and reporting to the government. The project supported the development of a solution that optimized charging power, reduced strain on the electrical grid, and facilitated the installation of charging stations in multi-unit residential buildings.
